Ask a question about water treatment or filtration

What micron size will I need?

The micron size you need, will depend largely on what you are trying to filter out of your water supply. To help you determine the micron best suited for your application, we have included the Fileder Filtration Spectrum here. Page reference numbers on the Filtration Spectrum, refer to Fileder’s Process Filtration and Water treatment brochure, an on-line version of which can be found by going to our Product Brochures page.

How do I determine my ‘flow-rate’?

A common method is to take a measuring jug/beaker (preferably in litres), and then note the volume of water (or liquid) collected over a 1 minute period. For high flow rates, flow meters are recommended, which can be purchased from Fileder. Please contact our customer service team for further details.

How long will my cartridge last before it needs replacing?

Each filter cartridge has a certain dirt loading, and different water sources have a different amount of dirt in them, so in some applications cartridges will last a long time, whilst in others the same cartridge won’t last as long. With the majority of applications we recommend that you change your filters when the pressure drop is 20-30 psi or at 6 months, whichever happens first.

For further information please consult one of our trained filtration specialists and they will be more than happy to assist you.

What type of end-cap configuration is best for my application?

This is largely determined by the housing that you are using in your application. To ensure you have the correct end-cap for your filter contact our filtration specialist to discuss your requirements.

What is Reverse Osmosis?

Reverse Osmosis or RO is a filtration process that works by using pressure to force a solution through a membrane, retaining the solute on one side and allowing the pure solvent to pass to the other side. For a more detailed description and a full range of Fileder Filter Systems RO products, visit the on-line RO Systems brochure.
