Chlorine Reduction for Freshwater Cold Fish (Koi)

The presence of Chlorine in the water can irritate gills, especially in Koi as this attacks the delicate gill tissue causing it to become inflamed, inhibiting oxygen transfer.
Fish with this problem can be seen “gasping” for air at the top of ponds, sitting on the bottom of tanks or “flicking” on their sides to address the irritation in gills.
Treating the water with depth or bag filtration, followed by Carbon treatment can significantly reduce this, promoting healthy growth and management.
