Fileder has been supporting Brighton & Hove Albion for over 50+ years, so it’s a proud moment for us to say we are now official sponsors for the club. We are sponsors of the Ball, Match and Kit during the season.

Friday 3rd August, saw our first official sponsored match for BHAFCs last pre-season friendly against Nantes F.C before the premier league kicks off at the weekend. Martin our MD and some lucky members of staff had been selected to watch the game live from the Amex.

The weather was absolutely perfect as they headed into the very impressive Amex Stadium, where they were greeted by Ex-Footballer Gary Chivers who played for Chelsea, Swansea City, Queens Park Rangers, Watford, Bournemouth and of course Brighton & Hove Albion, where he played for 6 years.

Gary was the host for the day as they toured the stadium, including the changing rooms and new press room as they listened to his fascinating football stories from the past having played with some of the best players of his era such as Ron “Chopper” Harris and David Seaman.

On the tour they saw Chris Houghton, current Brighton manager and footballing legend as well as club captain Bruno who kindly stopped for photos, which was great to see.

After the tour, they headed to the exclusive 1901 Club for a fantastic 3 course meal, endless drinks and a great lively atmosphere pre-match.

Towards the end of the meal, Martin surprised both Declan (Business Development Executive for Scotland & Ireland) and Jack (Technical Manager) by allowing them the opportunity to escort the teams out of the tunnel and on to the pitch where they got their photos taken in the centre circle with the clubs captains. What an amazing experience this was and although it was nerve-wracking walking out to 12,000 people, Declan said it was absolutely incredible and loved every second of it!

As the match kicked off it was a nervy affair with neither team wanting to get any injuries so close to the start of the league campaign.

Halftime Brighton came in 1-0 up after some great build-up play and an unselfish lay off by a lively Anthony Knockhart which led to Tomer Hemed scoring into an empty net.

Back to the 1901 Club for half time refreshments before heading back out for the 2nd half where Brighton quickly went 2-0 up after some poor defending and great pressure from Brighton with Pascal Gros slotting home from close range.

As official matchday sponsors, Fileder got the honour of picking the man of the match so they were all watching for that standout performance. After a group discussion they agreed Knockhart had done enough to get the nod.

As the game drew to a close Nantes did manage a consolation goal but Brighton held out for a deserved 2-1 win.

After the final whistle they all headed back to the 1901 Club for more drinks and snacks laid on whilst we waited for Knockhart to come up and collect his Man of the Match bottle of Champagne, presented to him by Fileder and in return he presented us with a signed ball by all the players which will proudly be presented in the office.

Such a fantastic evening had by all and a footballing experience they I’ll never forget.

This is such a great venue for us to share with our customers and with such a well run club we look forward to the season ahead.
