Aquatics - Sediment, chlorine, metal ions removal and bacterial growth suppression
Incoming water is pre-filtered with sediment cartridges initially, this prevents further stages such as the carbon stage from premature blocking. Chlorine and chloramines are treated with carbon to protect the fish from chemical attack that can break down a mucus layer on the surface of the fish which otherwise encourages parasites to grow on the fish. These chemicals also attack the reverse osmosis membranes if not treated with carbon first.
Heavy metals contained within water sources are poisonous to fish if available in high enough doses so these heavy metals are removed using ion exchange cartridges to target elements such as mercury, cadmium, zinc, lead, copper and more.
Further treatment is available using calcite cartridges to modify pH levels (SRCA), softening cartridges to remove calcium and magnesium hardness causing ions (SRSO) and nitrate removal cartridges (SRNI).
Stages of Filtration & Water Treatment
Prevents debris, scale flakes, dirt and particle build up in pipework, tanks, equipment and where present, premature blinding of filtration stages further along the cascade.
Helps the taste and odour of the liquid and where present, protects RO membranes from chemical attack.
Some utility companies use chloramine in place of chlorine as it lasts longer in the pipework, removing chloramine requires highly developed carbon technology.
Heavy Metals Removal
Metals such as lead, cadmium, copper and zinc are attracted to the resin beads and removed from the water.
UV light impedes bacterial growth by sterilising the DNA of microorganisms, suppressing bio-film and bacteria colony growth.
SPECTRUM TruDepth Standard Spun-Bonded Cartridge
Boasting WRAS approval over the ESP, the TruDepth Standard is the best value option for general particulate reduction. With a recognisable mini-grooved construction, the SSP has a higher surface area and enhanced dirt holding capacity over the TruDepth Economic cartridge (ESP).
SPECTRUM 870 Standard Carbon Block Cartridge
A firm favourite for drinking water applications, the SPECTRUM SCB carbon range is manufactured from WRAS approved materials, offers excellent chlorine reduction and low pressure drops.
SPECTRUM Sabre 4 & 8 – Up to 7.6 lpm
Ideal for residential, light commercial or single-tap outlet applications, these compact single-lamp systems provide effective microorganism control without taking up space or compromising water quality.
